Biografia

Albert Wolff was born in France and qualified for the 1936 Olympics for France, but as a Jew, he refused to go. He fought in the French Army during World War II, and was captured by the Germans and placed in a Jewish war camp. Wolff escaped and made it to the United States via Portugal. He joined the US Army and returned to Europe fighting the Germans.

Wolff competed at the 1948 and 1952 Olympics. He won a gold medal in team foil at the 1951 Pan American Games, adding a silver in team épée that year. He was Amateur Fencers League of America (AFLA) individual épée champion in 1946, while representing the Louisville Fencers. Wolff later did some work in fencing administration, serving on the 1958 World Championship team committee.
