Boo Morcom was national caliber in both the high jump and pole vault. He started college at the University of New Hampshire in 1940 but was sidetracked by World War II, although he finished second in the 1942 AAU high jump. After serving in the war for three years he graduated from UNH in 1947, winning the NCAA pole vault that year. He was AAU pole vault champion in 1945 and 1947-48. Morcom later became a phys ed teacher and track coach, first at the University of Pennsylvania but in later life in high school back in New Hampshire. He continued to compete in masters events well into his 70s.
