Biografia

Aimo Aho rose to prominence in 1972, when he threw over 80 m for the first time, throwing 80.02. For a next decade, Aho was one of the top Finnish javelin throwers, although throughout his career, he was overshadowed by such great Finnish javelin throwers as Hannu Siitonen, Seppo Hovinen and Antero Puranen. During his career, Aho competed at three major international tournaments, finishing ninth at both the 1974 European Championships and 1980 Olympics and tenth at the 1983 World Championships. Domestically, Aho won the Finnish title in 1975, won silver in 1974, 1977, 1978, 1980, 1982 and 1983 and bronzes in 1973 and 1981. After finishing his sporting career, Aho worked as a massage therapist.
