William Ernest T. FISCHER

Ernie Fischer wrestled in high school for Southern High in Baltimore, winning the Maryland State outstanding wrestlier award in both 1949-50. Fischer attended the University of Maryland, placing second in the 1954 NCAAs at 167 lbs. While at Maryland, Fischer lost only one dual match in his college career. He also competed for the Baltimore Central YMCA, and at the time of the 1956 Olympics was serving in the US Air Force. Fischer was inducted into the Maryland State Athletic Hall of Fame in 1989.
