경력

Prudencio Cardona boxed for Colombia at the 1972 München Olympics and then turned professional, where he was much more successful. Cardona débuted as a pro in November 1973, winning a four-round decision over Luis Ramos. He initially fought mostly in Colombia but later trained in Miami and fought in the United States and several other countries.

In March 1982 Cardona won the World Boxing Council flyweight championship with a knockout of Antonio Avelar. He lost that title in his first defense, in July 1982, against Freddy Castillo. In September 1984 Cardona fought for the World Boxing Association flyweight title but was knocked out by Santos Laciar. Cardona retired in 1989 but came back for one more fight in Miami in 1992, losing by TKO to Darryl Pinckney. Sadly, he lost 14 of his final 16 professional bouts. Cardona’s professional record was 40 wins (27 by KO), 23 losses, and 1 draw.
