József Pongrácz, a Greco-Roman wrestler had his first success in the colors of MTE, winning the unofficial European Championships in 60 kg in 1912. In the same year, he took part in the Stockholm Olympics, where he was injured in the third round and withdrew. In 1913, he moved to BAK. World War I interrupted his career, but he won the 1920 Hungarian Championship and finished second at the World Championship in Wien (Vienna). After finishing his career, he worked as a coach in various cities in the country.
