경력

A 400-metre specialist, Jean-Paul Martin du Gard competed at the 1952 and 1956 Olympics. He was capped 35 times in internationals for France from 1949-56. Martin du Gard ran for the Paris University Club. He won a silver medal in the 400 metres at the 1949 World University Games, and a gold medal in the 4x400 at the 1954 European Championships. He was French Champion in the 200 metres in 1955, and ran on three French record setting 4x400 relay teams, in 1950, 1952, and 1954.

Martin du Gard later became President of the athletic section of PUC from 1998-2003, and led the International French Athletics Group from 1998-2002. His career was as an architect, and he served as an advisor to the Ministry of Health from 1961-87. His most prominent works were the CREPS of Reims, hospitals in Verdun and Bar-le-Duc, an addition to the hospital in Vésinet, the Centers for the Disabled in Ghyvelde and Saran, and the Polyclinique de Liévin.
