경력

Hilde Synnøve Lid was the first Norwegian female skier to seriously compete in aerials. She won her first national championship in 1986, still not 15-years-old, and won five Norwegian Championship titles in the period 1986-93, after which the competition was not organized. In 1987 Hilde Synnøve Lid competed in her first World Cup in her hometown Voss, and one week later she placed third at the Junior World Championships. She started to train with the Swiss national aerial team, and had her breakthrough in the 1990-91 season with one second and three third places at the World Cup. In 1992 aerials was an exhibition event at the Albertville Olympics, and she placed sixth, and then won the bronze medal at the 1994 Lillehammer Olympics. In December 1994 she won her first World Cup competition in Tignes, France, and in February 1995 she won her second and last World Cup in Altenmarkt, Austria. After placing sixth at the 1998 Nagano Olympics, she had an excellent season in 1999, winning a silver medal at the World Championships in Switzerland. She continued to compete until 2002, but failed to qualify for the final at the Salt Lake City Olympics. Hilde Synnøve Lid later worked as a teacher at the Top Sport High School in Voss.
