Gonçalo Amorim was a Portuguese cyclist primarily known as a road sprinter. In 1993, 1997, and 2004 he won the points classification at the Tour de l’Algarve, and he won that jersey at the 2002 Tour of Portugal. He twice raced the Vuelta a España, not finishing in 1995 and placing 39th in 2003. Amorim raced twice at the World Professional Road Championship, placing 36th in 2001 and 44th in 2003. In 2012 he has been found dead at his home in Santarém. He committed suicide apparently with a shotgun.
