Dwayne NORRIS

After a successful year at Athol Murray College of Notre Dame, right winger Dwayne Norris received a scholarship to Michigan State University in 1988 and spent four years on their ice hockey squad, the Spartans. During his time there he also joined the Canadian national team and scored six goals in seven games at the 1990 Junior World Championships, including the winning one, helping his country take home a gold medal. He was immediately recruited by the National Hockey League’s Quebec Nordiques and scored 53 points in 50 games with the American Hockey League’s Halifax Citadels during the 1992-1993 season. He made his NHL debut in five matches with the Nordiques the following year, but spent most of his time with Team Canada, in addition to nine games with the Cornwall Aces of the AHL. At the 1994 Winter Olympic ice hockey tournament Norris skated in eight matches, scored two goals, and took home a silver medal. He spent nearly the entire 1994-1995 season with the Aces and managed to get on the ice only thirteen times with the Nordiques. His situation did not improve when he joined the NHL’s Mighty Ducks of Anaheim in 1995, suiting up for three games with the team that year and fourteen with the International Hockey League’s Los Angeles Ice Dogs. In 1996 he gave up on the NHL and moved to Germany where he had long stints with the Cologne Sharks (1996-2003) and the Frankfurt Lions (2003-2007). Upon his 2007 retirement, he was made General Manager of the Lions.
