경력

Barbi Henneberger first competed at the Winter Olympics in 1960, winning a bronze medal in the slalom. Her greatest victories came in 1962 at the World Winter University Games, when she won gold medals in the downhill, giant slalom, and Alpine combined, and a silver medal in the slalom. She did not place that year in the World Championships. Henneberger competed at the 1964 Winter Olympics, but struggled for her and did not medal. At the time, she was engaged to German skier Willy Bogner, who was also a filmmaker and owned a clothing line. After the Innsbruck Olympics, Henneberger was filming a ski movie, Skifaszinationen for Bogner in Val Selin, near St. Moritz, when she and American skier Buddy Werner were caught in an avalanche, killing both. Bogner was indicted for homicidal negligence in their deaths, as there had been warnings of extreme ski conditions and he was eventually sentenced to probation.
