Adam Setliff was a discus thrower who competed at both the 1996 and 2000 Olympic Games, finishing fifth in 2000 at Sydney. He also finished fifth at the 2001 World Championships. Setliff started college at Rice University, but transferred to the University of Washington, graduating in 1993. His best NCAA finish was also fifth, in 1993. Setliff won USA titles in 2000-02, finishing second at nationals in 1998 and 2003, and third in 1996-97. He retired after the 2003 season, and returned to school, attending law school at the Dedman School of Law at Southern Methodist University. Setliff became a criminal defense attorney in Dallas. He also dabbled in acting, playing Mac Wilkins in “Without Limits,” a film about the life of Steve Prefontaine.
