Biografia

After winning the 880 at the London AC Schools’ meeting in 1916, William Seagrove served in the war as a lieutenant in the Worcestershire Regiment. On going up to Cambridge, he was the winner against Oxford in the cross-country match in 1921 and the 3 miles in 1922. He placed fifth in the AAA mile in 1920 and, after winning the Scottish 880 yards in 1926, he won the mile at both the AAA and the Scottish Championships in 1924. He became a schoolmaster and, after teaching at Gleanalmond, he was appointed headmaster of a preparatory school in Seaford, Sussex. He was also an excellent pianist and violinist and initiated and organized many musical activities.
