Biografia

Tom Southworth was a whitewater canoeist who competed for the Philadelphia Canoe Club and the Nantahala Racing Club. He raced at the World Championships in 1963, 1965, 1967, 1969, and 1971. From 1963-67 he competed mostly in canoe slalom singles, with a best finish of 11th at the 1965 Worlds. He later switched to canoe slalom doubles, which was his event at the 1972 Olympics. He was sixth in C-2 mixed at the 1969 and 1971 World Championships, winning a bronze medal in 1969 with the US team. Southworth graduated from Cornell University in 1966 with a degree in economics.
