Biografia

Although Susie Corrock was rated the best downhiller among the U.S. women in 1972, she had actually had more success in the technical races in the years leading up to the Olympics. In 1970, she won the U.S. Junior Nationals at slalom and giant slalom, also winning the Senior title in the giant slalom. Her first international experience came in 1971 and she had a good season, but gave no hint that she could win a medal at the 1972 Olympics. However she had the best run of her ski career in the Sapporo downhill, a run about which she said, "I didn't make any mistakes." That was her only podium finish in an major international or World Cup event, but she did place in the top 10 16 others times in World Cup races. Corrock left the U.S. ski team in 1973, skiing that year in the United States and then turned professional, retiring after 1975.
