Biografia

Rick McKinney competed in four Olympics for the United States from 1976-92, only missing the 1980 Games because of the boycott, and winning two silver medals, individual in 1984 and team in 1988. McKinney was a three-time individual World Champion, winning in 1977, 1983, and 1985, also winning team titles in 1977, 1979, 1981, and 1983. He also won three team gold medals at the 1979, 1983 and 1987 Pan American Games, adding three individual silvers in 1983 in the overall and at 30 and 90 metres. McKinney garnered nine US Championships between 1977-87, and won 10 team medals at the US Olympic Festival.

McKinney attended Arizona State University, graduating in 1983. He later worked in the archery industry, working on the development of carbon fiber-wrapped aluminum arrows. He has served as an analyst for NBC’s Olympic archery coverage. McKinney also wrote the book The Simple Art of Winning: How To Shoot Your Best. He was inducted into the Arizona State Sports Hall of Fame in 1990.
