Biografia

Competing for the Boston AA, Frederick Hedlund, who was born to Swedish parents, was third at the 1912 Eastern Olympic Trials in the 1,500. He placed twice at the AAUs in the mile, third in 1910 and second in 1911. In 1913, he anchored the Boston AA 4xMile relay team that broke the world record. Hedlund worked in the insurance business, and later coached at Boston University and was then head track coach at MIT for over 35 years, retiring in 1958. After his retirement he stayed in the sport as a volunteer official at Boston AA indoor meets.

Personal Best: 1,500 – 4:04.1 (1912).
