Michael Peter won 261 international caps from 1969-84, which stood as a West German record for many years, Domestically, he played for HC Heidelberg, and helped them win the West German Championship in 1982, and the indoor title in 1971.
Peter was known as the “Franz Beckenbauer“ of German hockey, not only because of his success, but because of his very relaxed way of playing the sport. Like team-mates Peter Kraus and Rainer Seifert, Peter spent his entire working life with the German car manufacturer Opel.
