Biografia

Setter Lubomír Zajíček started to play professional volleyball in 1964 with Spartak Brno and remained there until 1967. With Spartak, he won Czechoslovakian titles in 1965 and 1967. From 1967-69 Zajíček was with Dukla Jihlava and from 1969-74 he competed for Dukla Liberec, helping them win the 1973 Czechoslovakian title. After playing on the Czechoslovakian national junior team from 1964-66 and winning a bronze medal at the European Junior Championships in 1966, Zajíček was on the Czechoslovakian national team from 1968-72. Zajíček competed at two Olympic Games, earning bronze in 1968, finished fourth at the 1970 World Championships, and captured a silver medal at the 1971 European Championships. Zajíček finished his career in 1974 after a severe injury. From 1980-95 he was treasurer of the volleyball club Zbrojovka Brno and from 1995-2005 was a board member of the volleyball club Sokol Bystrc. He also served as a volleyball referee.
