Luis Molina was in the Marines when he made the 1956 Olympic team, and was the first Marine to box in the Olympics. He won the All-Marine boxing title three consecutive years and won the 1956 Inter-Service Championship. After the Olympics and his military career, Molina turned professional, winning his first bout over Tommy Hunter in a first-round knockout in April 1959. Molina won his first 16 professional fights, before losing to Kenny Lane by a decision in 1962. He fought professionally through November 1966, ending with a career record of 32-10, although he lost 6 of his last 9 fights. He never fought for a major title but was briefly ranked as the #1 challenger. Molina later earned a living as a welder.
