Kathy Watt is an Australian cyclist whose greatest victory came in winning the gold medal in the 1992 Olympic road race for women. She had also won the Commonwealth Games gold medal in 1990 in the same event, and at Barcelona, she added a silver medal in the individual pursuit. In Australia, Watt has won 24 national titles on the road, track, and in mountain biking. Watt retired after 2000 but returned in 2003 to attempt to qualify for the Olympics. While that was unsuccessful she won a silver medal in the road time trial at the 2006 Commonwealth Games. She was twice on the podium at the Giro d’Italia Femminile, winning silver in 1994 and bronze in 1990.
