Jim Peckham competed at the 1956 Olympics in Greco-Roman but later became much better known as a wrestling coach in the United States. He worked for many years as a light and power lineman for Braintree Electric Light, outside of Boston, but he was noted by Emerson College, and became their wrestling coach, and later served as their Athletic Director for 27 years. In 1986 he was named wrestling coach at Harvard, spending eight years at the Cambridge School. Peckham's family was a wrestling one, as his father competed in the 1930s as a professional wrestler, his daughter, Diana, wrestled on Saturday Night Live against Andy Kaufman in 1979, and his son, Matthew, was a 1974 high school All-American wrestler.
