Biografia

On one of his early appearances as a track cyclist, Liverpool’s J. Norman broke his collarbone after a collision during a novices’ race in his hometown. He started tandem racing in 1906 and teamed up with the veteran Bootle cyclist C. Keegan, before forming a partnership with a fellow East Liverpool Wheelers club mate Robert Jolly. Norman and Jolly competed in the Liverpool Centre NCU Championship a couple of times, and were paired together at the 1908 London Olympics, but were eliminated, six lengths behind the French pair, in their heat. Both Jolly and Norman also competed in the 100 km race. Little more is known about Norman, other than that he joined Sefton Harriers shortly before World War I.
