Biografia

Igor Trandenkov was one of the top pole vaulters of the world in the early 1990s, rising to prominence when he won the 1985 European Junior Championships. He won the 1994 Goodwill Games and 1995 European Cup, adding silvers at the 1992 and 1996 Olympics and 1994 Europeans, and bronzes at the 1993 World Championships and 1994 European Indoors. Trandenkov won the Russian pole vault championship in 1994-96.

After finishing his sports career in the late 90s, Trandenkov worked as an athletics coach in St. Petersburg. He later worked as a physical fitness coach with volleyball clubs Dynamo Leningrad Oblast and Leningradka St. Petersburg. During his athletics career, he was married to sprinter Marina Trandenkova, who won a 4x100 silver at the 1992 Olympics, but they eventually divorced. Trandenkov later married volleyball player Nataliya Alimova, who competed at the 2008 Olympics.
