Biografia

The son of London-based Jewish market stall holder, Harry Mizler won three ABA titles in four years. He won the bantamweight title in 1930 at the age of 17, and later that year won the gold medal at the inaugural British Empire Games at Hamilton, Canada. Mizler won the ABA featherweight title in 1932 and the following year was the lightweight champion. He turned professional shortly afterwards and a little over six months later he beat Johnny Cuthbert to capture the British lightweight title. He made one successful defence before losing it to the former world junior-welterweight champion, Jack Kid Berg. Mizler tried to regain the title in 1936 but lost on points to Jimmy Walsh over 15 rounds. It was his last championship bout, although he did continue boxing until bowing out after 81 professional contests in 1944, ending with a record of 63wins (20 by KO), 16 losses, and 2 draws. His older brother Moe was also a professional boxer with 52 fights to his credit.
