After the 1956 Olympics, where he lost by a walkover in the quarter-finals when he failed to make weight, Giulio Rinaldi turned professional in 1957. He had a long professional career, fighting through 1970, with most of his fights in Italy, and always fighting in Europe, with one exception. In 1960, in a non-title bout, Rinaldi defeated world light-heavyweight champion Archie Moore. In 1961, in his only fight in the United States, Rinaldi lost a re-match against Moore in a title bout in New York. But in late 1962, Rinaldi earned the European light-heavy title, defeating Chic Calderwood in Rome. He held that title until April 1964 when he was defeated by Gustav Scholz. Rinaldi won the European crown for a second time in July 1965, defeating Klaus-Peter Gumpert, but lost it in March 1966 against Piero Del Papa. Rinaldi retired in October 1970 after losing a bout for the Italian light-heavy title against Domenico Adinolfi. His final professional career record was 44 wins, 16 losses, and 5 draws.
