Biografia

A prolific sport shooter, George Beattie competed in three editions of the Summer Olympics for Canada and won just as many medals. In 1908 he was the runner-up in the individual trap event, behind countryman Walter Ewing, and won a second silver medal in the team tournament alongside Ewing, Mylie Fletcher, David McMackon, George Vivian, and Arthur Westover. In 1920 he was fifth in the team event (but had the highest score among his countrymen) and failed to medal in the individual competition. Four years later he captured his third and final silver medal with the Canadian team (William Barnes, John Black, James Montgomery, Samuel Newton, and Samuel Vance) and placed sixth individually. This team also came in third at that year’s British Championships. Beattie also won the Brewers and Maltsters Trophy in 1910. He lived most of life in Hamilton, Ontario and worked as a Wentworth County game warden.
