Ernesto Abrosini started running in 1912, soon after joining US Monza, where he became head of the club’s athletic section. Together with his twin brother Michele, a gifted footballer, Ambrosini served in World War I. Both were injured but while his brother died from complications Ernesto survived and recovered.
