Biografia

A multi-talented track and field athlete, Ellen Braumüller couldn’t quite match the performances of her rival Babe Didrikson, but reached Olympic top 10 performances in four very different events. She had won the triathlon (100 m, high jump, javelin throw) at the 1930 Women’s World Games, but no multi-event was on the 1932 Olympic programme. Braumüller’s top event was definitely the javelin throw, winning silver behind Didrikson in Los Angeles, and improving the World Record three times. She also set several world records in triathlon and pentathlon and earned six German titles. Her sister Inge Braumüller was also an Olympian and her niece Karin Betz became a pentathlete. Ellen later was employed as a nurse.

Personal Bests: 100 – 13.1 (1931); HJ – 1.41 (1932); DT – 40.26 (1937); JT – 44.64 (1932).
