Biografia

Eleanor Daniel began swimming with the Vesper Boat Club and was coached for a time by Mary Kelly, wife of Olympic rower, Jack Kelly, Jr.. She first broke through internationally with a gold in the 100 m butterfly at the 1967 Pan American Games, and after winning a set of medals at Mexico City, she enrolled at Penn. She trained with the men's team at Penn under Olympic gold medalist, George Breen. After two years, she moved to California to train in preparation for the München Olympics, after which she retired from swimming and returned to Penn, graduating in 1974.
