Biografia

Eilert Dahl was born in Spydeberg in the county of Østfold, but was baptized in Oslo a few weeks later. His family eventually moved to Hønefoss, where his father worked as a greenhouse gardener. Dahl’s national breakthrough came in 1946, when he came in second in the National Championships in Nordic combined. At the 1948 Olympics, on a black day for the Norwegian Nordic combined team, Dahl was the best-placed in sixth place. In 1949 he placed second in Lahti, Finland, and in 1950 won his second national championship medal, again finishing second. He ended his skiing career after the 1953 season, and took over from his father as a greenhouse gardener. Eilert Dahl died in 2004, at age 85.
