Biografia

Carlo Monti was the best Italian sprinter in the 1940s, whose best years were unfortunately during the World War II. Monti competed at two major international tournaments, medaling at both of them. At the 1946 European Championships, Monti won bronze in 100 m and at the 1948 Olympics, Monti won bronze in 4x100 m relay. Monti was an eight-time Italian Champion, winning the 100 metres in 1940-41 and 1946-47, and the 200 metres in 1941-42, 1946, and 1949. Monti never set an individual Italian record but was part of an Italian record setting 4x100 relay club team with US Milanese in June 1948. He later became a journalist and writer in Milano, in 2009 publishing Cento per Cento, a travelogue on 100 years of traveling at least 100 km. He was also the treasurer of the Italian Sports Press Union (Unione Stampa Sportiva Italiana).
