Biografia

Race walker Axel Noack started for the GDR at the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games, finishing eighth in the 20 km, and then for reunified Germany at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics (20th-20 km) and the 1996 Atlanta Olympics (12th-50 km). He also participated in the World Championships in 1991, 1993, 1995 and 1997 with his best result a fourth place in 1993. Noack also took part in the European Championships in 1986, 1994, and 1998. His only international medal came in 1990 when he earned a bronze medal at the European Indoors in the 5K. Noack won three national titles (and one indoor) in East Germany, while in Germany he won another two both in/outdoors. Noack set a world record in the 20 km in 1987 in 1-19:12. His brother Rex was also a successful race walker. Axel was educated as a construction engineer, but later worked as a youth athletics coach at the Olympic Training Center of the German Basketball Federation in Heidelberg.

Personal Bests: 20kmW – 1-19:12 (1987); 50kmW – 3-43:50 (1993).
