Uytengsu Aquatics Center
The swimming, synchronised swimming and diving events of the Olympic Games Los Angeles 1984 were held at the newly built Olympic Swim Stadium located on the campus of the University of Southern California. The swimming and diving pools, funded by a grant from the McDonald’s Olympic Trust, were built specifically for the 1984 Olympic Games, and have been used by USC students and local residents ever since.
The Olympic Swim Stadium saw 10 world records and six Olympic records during the 1984 Games. It also witnessed the debut of synchronised swimming, now a firm fixture on the Olympic programme.
The venue has hosted many regional and national competitions over the years. In 2013, it underwent a USD 8 million renovation providing a new diving tower, locker rooms, spectator area with shade structures, and a video scoreboard.
