Regina Schöpf started winning races in Austria in 1953, with victories in giant slalom at Innsbruck and Zugspitze. In 1954 she won races in Kitzbühel, Méribel, and her hometown of Seefeld. She competed at the 1954 World Championships in Åre, Sweden, placing fourth in the slalom, only 4/100ths out of a podium finish. Her only major title in 1955 was a slalom win at Saint-Gervais-les-Bains while in the early 1955-56 season Schöpf won several races, with victories in GS at Saalfelden, a slalom at Zakopane, a slalom/GS double at Seefeld, and she was Austrian slalom champion. She capped her 1956 season with an Olympic silver medal in the slalom, and then retired, at only 20-years-old. In 1996 Schöpf was given a silver medal in recognition of services to the Republic of Austria.
