बायोग्राफी

At 14 years, 309 days Kuzuo Kitamura was the youngest Olympic swimming gold medalist at the time, a record not broken until 1988 by Hungarian swimmer Krisztina Egerszegi. He retired from active sports after the 1932 Olympics and later graduated from Tokyo Imperial University. Later he was employed by the Japanese Ministry of Labor. After his retirement from public service he became director of a cement factory in 1984. When he fought in Burma during World War II, his Olympic medal was given as a metal donation to the local authorities by his father, but they refused to accept the donation, from emotion. In 1965 he became the first non-American in the International Swimming Hall of Fame. In addition, he has also held various positions in the Japanese Swimming Federation.
