Kun Waar Liem is an IOC Refugee Athlete Scholarship-holder specialising in the 200m and 400m.

Kun had a good life in South Sudan as a child, but everything changed one night when his community was attacked in the middle of the night. He remembers bullets raining down in the dark. Kun and his family were lucky to escape to a border town where they took a bus to the Kenyan city of Lokichogio, and subsequently they were taken to a refugee camp.

After settling in Kenya, he began to discover his talent for running. He began representing his school at national level, achieving medals, but continuing his career become more of a challenge after he left school and had to support himself. He was unable to afford the training and equipment expenses and had almost given up all hope until he heard about the Refugee Athlete Support Programme.

Now that he has been offered the opportunity to continue his training, he is not taking it for granted and wants to use it to inspire others who might think that all is lost for them.
