In 2005, Alois Schloder became the seventh German ice hockey player to be inducted into the International Ice Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto. His career started as a forward, but he later switched to defense, playing for EV Landshut for 23 years in 806 Bundesliga matches, and scoring 496 goals and 457 assists. With EV Landshut he won German Championships in 1970 and 1983. Additionally he earned 206 international caps, scoring 87 goals, and participated at three consecutive Olympics (1968 – 1976) and eight World Championships (plus 5 B World Championships), captaining the team from 1971-78.
