Adlan VARAEV

Adlan Varayev, the 1982 European junior freestyle lightweight champion, made the Soviet national team in 1985. Varayev, who competed in freestyle welterweight his entire senior career, won Olympic silver in 1988 and was the 1987 World Champion, as well as European Champion in 1986-88. He also won silver at the 1986 World Championships and was Soviet Champion in 1986-87. Varayev finished his sporting career after the fall of the Soviet Union and later worked as a wrestling coach. He has been coach of the Russian national freestyle team and also served as vice-president of the Russian Wrestling Federation.
