Biographie

Bill Albans was a good all-round athlete, who ran for the University of North Carolina (UNC), Occidental College, and the Warinanco AC. He was NCAA champion in the 220 hurdles in 1950. He also had two podium finishes in the AAU decathlon – third in 1949 and second in 1950. While at UNC, Albans led the Tar Heels to the 1949 Southern Conference title with five first-place finishes. At the 1950 NCAA meet he scored more points than any other individual competitor. That year he was world ranked in three events, ranking #2 in the decathlon, #3 in the 110 high hurdles, and #4 in the long jump. Albans was also world ranked #4 in the decathlon in 1952.

Personal Bests: 100 – 10.6 (1950); 110H – 14.4 (1949); HJ – 1.95i (6-5i) (1949); LJ – 7.58 (24-10½) (1950); TJ – 14.92 (48-11½) (1948); Deca – 7,361 (1950).
