Biographie

Wilf Bleaden was Britain’s leading long jumper in 1908 when he was the winner at the Oxbridge Sports and at the AAA Championships. He also represented Scotland in the match against Ireland, coming second to Tim Ahearne. Bleaden was also a useful shot putter, winning against Cambridge in 1909 and placing third at the 1910 AAA Championships. On leaving Oxford he studied medicine and after serving in the RNVR during the War, he qualified as a surgeon in 1920.
