Werner SPANNAGEL

Werner Spannagel won his 1932 first round flyweight contest with a points win over Juan José Trillo from Argentina, but lost the quarter-final on points against Louis Salica from the US, who went on to win the bronze medal. Spannagel was the German bantamweight champion in 1932 and flyweight champion the following year. He was killed-in-action in 1943 at the Eastern Front during World War II, with his death being reported on 23 December 1943.
