Biographie

Vytautas Briedis began competitive rowing at age 15. At the 1962 World Rowing Championship in Lucerne, he won a silver medal in the eight. In the same discipline, he won silver medals at the European Champions in 1963 (Køpenhavn) and 1964 (Amsterdam). Briedis won six Soviet Championship titles. In 1980-88, he served as the head coach of the Lithuanian rowing team, leading them to 39 various awards at competitions in the USSR. In 1988 he was a leader in the resurrection of the Lithuanian Olympic Committee.
