Biographie

During his career, Václav Korunka competed at three Olympic Winter Games (1988, 1992, 1994) and six World Championships (1989, 1991, 1993, 1995, 1997, 1999). He won relay bronzes at the 1988 Winter Olympics (with Radim Nyč, Pavel Benc and Ladislav Švanda) and at the 1989 World Championships (with Nyč, Švanda and Martin Petrásek). His best individual finish at those tournaments was eighth in 15 km at the 1989 World Championships. Korunka never won a World Cup race during his career, his best finish being third, which he achieved thrice – in 15 km freestyle in January 1991 in Minsk, in 10 km freestyle in December 1992 in Ramsau and in 30 km freestyle in March 1993 in Lahti. His best overall World Cup finish was 11th in 1992-93 season. After finishing his sporting career in 2000, Korunka worked as a cross-country skiing coach.
