Biographie

Tracee Talavera qualified for the US team at the 1979 World Championships, but could not compete because she was still only 13-years-old. In 1981 she became one of the first US women to win a medal at the World Championships, taking a bronze medal on the balance beam. Talavera won multiple US Championships, as follows: uneven bars (1979), all-around and beam (1981), all-around (1982), and beam (1984). At the American Cup, Talavera won three gold medals in 1979, on beam, floor, and uneven bars; four gold medals in 1980, with golds in the same three events and the all-around, and a gold on balance beam in 1983. She had a skill named after her on the beam, the Talavera, which consisted of a series of flairs.
