Biographie

Thérèse Blondeau was French backstroke champion from 1933-36 and went to the 1936 Olympics as a medal contender but struggled in Berlin and did not make the final. At the 1934 Universiade she won titles in the 50 and 100 free and the 100 backstroke. Blondeau was also one of the early European practitioners of synchronized swimming, winning national titles in that discipline as well. Her sister, Renée was also a top swimmer who competed at Berlin, but she specialized more in freestyle.
