Biographie

Terje Andersen was a middle distance skater who made his international début at the 1973 European Championships. He won the 500 m but did not qualify for the final 10K. In this period he had to compete against the 4 Norwegian S's (Sten Stensen, Kay Stenshjemmet, Jan Egil Storholt and Amund Sjøbrend) and he competed only in one more allround championship, the 1975 World Championship, without success. After a disappointing Olympics in Innsbruck he deceided to concentrate on sprints instead of the allround. He was more successful at the World Sprint Championships, placing eighth in 1980 and fourth in 1981. He had his greatest success in Lake Placid 1980 when he won the bronze medal in the 1,500 m. Andersen has been involved in skating ever since, and was president of the Norwegian Skating Federation in 1997-1999 and 2003-2007.

Personal Bests: 500 – 38.3 (1981); 1000 – 1:15.62 (1980); 1500 – 1:56.92 (1980); 5000 – 7:21.22 (1976); 10000 – 15:37.11 (1981).
