Biographie

With three Olympic medals, two of them gold, Steve Timmons shares the record for Olympic volleyball medals won by a man. Timmons led the U.S. to Olympic gold medals in both 1984 and 1988, being named most valuable player of the 1984 Olympic team. Between Olympics, he helped the U.S. win the 1986 World Championship and the 1985 World Cup. Timmons left the national team in 1989 to play professional volleyball for Il Messaggero in Rome. Timmons and Karch Kiraly led Il Messaggero to the 1991 World Club Championship. He then returned to the national team to help the U.S. win a bronze medal at the 1992 Olympics. Timmons owns a beach sportswear company, and was briefly married to the former Jeanne Buss, the daughter of the owner of the Los Angeles Lakers.
