Simone E. SCHALLER

Simone Schaller began playing sports at Monrovia High School in California. Between the 1932 and 1936 Olympics she competed in basketball leagues in Southern California, but continued to compete in track & field, winning the 1933 AAU 80 metre hurdles. Schaller represented the Los Angeles Athletic Club. At the 1932 and 1936 Olympic Trials/AAU Meets, she was third in the high hurdles.

Schaller married Joseph Kirin, who played minor league baseball in the Illinois-Indiana-Iowa League. She worked as manager of food services at Temple City High School. In her later years she stayed active by taking up tennis. Schaller died in October 2016, at the age of 104, and was until then the oldest living Olympian.

Personal Best: 80mH – 11.8 (1932).
