Simon Dickie was a coxswain who won three medals at the 1968, 1972, and 1976 Olympics; most notably he led the New Zealand eight to a gold in 1972 and the four to a gold in 1968. He came out of retirement for the Montréal Games in 1976 to win his third medal, a bronze in the eights. Dickie added a gold medal in the eight at the 1971 European Championships, and a bronze medal in the eight at the 1970 World Championships. Dickie later ran an adventure company in Taupo, on the North Island.
